Bassoonist with a Spike

This picture shows bassoonist Zsuzsa Kata Horváth with her adapted bassoon, to which a bent spike is added. This spike was developed by bassoonist Sándor Tamás, and in contrary to the straight spikes which do not take the weight off the instrument, with this bent spike one can sit in orchestra rehearsals all day without  any strain on your left wrist or neck, similarly to the way one played a contrabassoon, a bass clarinet or a cello. The length of the spike can be freely adjusted to the height of your chair.
